The Daler Rowney FW Pearlescent Effect Ink Set 6x29.5ml offers six alluring colours for you to work with. The colours included in this set are; Black, Moon Violet, Waterfall Green, Galactic Blue, White Pearl and Platinum Pink. Having taken advantage of developments in the pigment industry, the new range is able to give a brilliant shimmering pearl effect. Such a degree of lightfastness over a range of fully intermixable colours makes them ideal for use by artists in the production of pictures for permanent display. Ideal for use with a dip pen, ruling pen or brush. They are permanent and translucent, but work best when put down freely, where colour strength, expression and fluidity are required. Since they are water based acrylic inks, you still get a startling pearl effect even after dilution with water. The set also includes a creative ideas booklet.

Great fun arty-crafty product

I've just come across these inks again - I had a set when I was at art college 10 years ago and this set has understandably dried out since then, but I have no hesitation in putting them in my basket again. The colours tend towards pastel rather than vibrant shades because of the high level of reflective stuff in them. They work fantastically on most surfaces - a dark background gives a completely different look to the colours than a white one - and they are particularly effective on textured surfaces where they can catch the light. They are not waterproof once dry so can be worked into again, but finished areas must be protected from splatter. Overall great fun to work with as an extra element in mixed-media artworks.
